Winter Carnival is one of Leavitt’s biggest traditions in its school. This tradition is an event that has been around since the ’60s and is rumored to have started even before that. The tradition happens the week before February break as a way to make school super fun and give the students the experience of a lifetime that most schools don’t do. It consists of fun games during and after school, along with one of the biggest events: airband. This fun time lasts a week, from Monday through Thursday of after-school activities that each class can sign up for. Each day leading up to Friday is only one activity per day. Activities like handball and pillow polo are some of the games played after school from Monday to Thursday.
Friday is the biggest day of the week, it consists of games throughout the whole day going from 8 o clock to the end of the day. There are tons of activities that overlap throughout the whole day. Multiple activities go at once allowing for various amounts of students to participate from each class during winter carnival. Activities like 3v3 basketball, tug of war, weight lifting, and many more activities. Class go head to head until a winner is determined. Various activities are widespread for what people would like to do. There are no classes during the day and activities last around an hour long and are super interactive with the students. The teachers are into just as much as the students are and are enjoying the same as the students are.
