Esports is an activity that is all around the U.S. and has been growing in popularity. Esports is a type of sport that is played through video games. Schools compete against other schools in different games to determine the winner of the competitive event. Some popular games in esports competitions are Fortnite, Rocket League, Call of Duty, Madden, NBA 2k, League of Legends, and Valorent. Esports is similar to regular sports where a JV and a Varsity team play and practice the games together. Esports is also very different because there aren’t timers or time segments you just play several games. Esports is a real thing and it is growing like a wildfire. It is also a way to add inclusivity to the school because some kids would rather play a video game than a sport requiring physical exertion.
