This blog features coach Hathaway, the boys basketball and football coach here at Leavitt. This episode will focus on Leavitt’s 2025 football season and their success and improvements on the year, although falling short to Greeley in the Class C championship they made tremendous improvements as a young team having an overall record of 8 – 3. Leaders like Mason Henderson, and the other seniors as well as younger players like sophomore Landon Marquis who Hathaway feels has “handled the pressure well being a sophomore QB” and junior Randan Hutchinson stepping into their roles as the season went on. Hathaway also points out seeing Keller McMurry and Karson Huebner becoming leaders in the near future as they hold characteristics like being good teammates, very unselfish, and understanding practice level and dynamic. Leavitt’s senior Mason Henderson was also a finalist for the Fits Patrick award which is for the 10 best seniors in Maine he is a leader on offense and multi year starter for our football team. Senior Reid Langlois on the offensive line and Nick Mellen on defense have also become key players this season with lots of experience, lastly senior Maddox Girard who has become an all around improved and good player for the football team over his years here at Leavitt. Hoping to get just as far next season Hathaway wants to see even more improvements in the weight room correlating to on the field. Lastly a message to the kids coming up Hathaway says “Prove to your coaches and teammates that they can trust you, that’s the number one thing that can happen before you see the field…..other people have to rely on you to do your job…..even though you might not be the most talented or the biggest or the fastest being able to do the job and be reliable is really important.”
